Violence Intervention Programs

Adult Violence Intervention Programs

These are educational courses for men or women who have a history of physical, emotional or verbal abuse towards their intimate partner(s), an anger problem or have been referred by the courts. The goal of these programs is to provide individuals with the opportunity to make personal behavior and belief changes that will allow them to avoid violence within their intimate and other relationships in the future. The Center offers various programs based on need and types of violence ranging from 12-24 weeks of intervention. One of the programs is the Texas Department of Criminal Justice approved Battering Intervention and Prevention Project (BIPP).

Protective Parenting Program

This program is designed for individuals who want to enhance their parenting skills or individuals whom the courts or TXDFPS-Child Protective Services have referred. The goal of this education program is to empower parents with new positive guidance skills and to prevent child abuse or neglect. This program is 12 weeks long and meets governmental agency requirements for protective parenting.

Individuals wanting to participate in any of these programs can call the office to schedule a time for an initial intake and orientation session during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm at 512-321-7760, Extension 217. During this initial session a determination will be made as to the type of group that will be appropriate for the participant. There is a fee to attend the Violence Intervention program. It is based on a sliding fee scale and this will also be assessed during the initial intake. Other information about the programs can be requested by calling the office or emailing avip@familycrisiscenter.us.
