Crisis Intervention

Family Crisis Center advocates are committed to helping and supporting individuals in crisis. They do this in the following ways:

Crisis Intervention
24-hours/7 days a week - Advocates provide safety planning, access to temporary shelter, options, information and education so that the individual can make decisions that are best for their situation.

Legal Support and Advocacy
Advocates can help individuals with the protective order process and provide support for and accompaniment to most legal matters.

Personal Advocacy
Advocates can help locate local resources (if available) for employment, housing and financial assistance for utilities, rent, etc.

Emergency Needs
Advocates can help individuals in crisis with emergency needs (if available) such as food, clothing, diapers, and school supplies.

Medical Accompaniment
Advocates can support individuals who have been physically or sexually assaulted by providing accompaniment to the hospital, police department, etc.

Information and Referrals
Advocates can help individuals find resources not provided by the Family Crisis Center. Some examples are food pantries, financial help, housing, employment, legal assistance, mental health and health care, and drug and alcohol services.
