VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are an integral part of the success of all non-profit organizations. The Family Crisis Center needs more dedicated community members to offer their time and skills to help us serve clients who are experiencing domestic, sexual and or teen dating violence. Currently, the Center needs volunteers for our hotline, retail thrift store and office clerical assistance. If you are interested in participating in our volunteer program, please contact:

Prevention Education and Awareness

The mission of the Prevention Education Team is to provide quality community education that will end domestic violence and sexual violence in Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette, and Lee Counties.

Prevention Programs K-5th Grade

Presentations are designed to educate K-5th grade students and increase awareness of the different types of abuse and strategies for safety and seeking help; topics include emotional and verbal abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, internet safety and community resources. These programs enhance self-esteem, build relationship skills, and enhance children’s ability to resolve conflict with non-violent actions.

Prevention Programs 6th-12th Grade

Presentations are designed to educate 6th-12th grade students about sexual assault, sexual harassment, teen dating violence, and bullying and by-standers. These programs provide information on how to recognize abusive relationships, how to report abuse as it happens, and how to deter it from happening in the future.

Community Prevention Programs

Community education and awareness programs focusing on the dynamics of domestic, sexual and dating violence are also offered to parents, civic organizations, the faith-based community, health care providers, mental health care professionals, school administration and teachers, social services agencies and businesses.

Sexual Assault Focused Education for Teens(S.A.F.E. Teens)

Presentations are designed to educate and engage 14 to 18 year old youth on primary prevention issues including Tolerance, Gender Stereotypes, Sexual Harassment, Stalking/Cyberstalking, and Sexual Assault.

En la Saber/ In the Know

The goal of the En la Saber/In the Know project is to provide rural youth, with special emphasis on Hispanic youth, with the skills, resources, and knowledge necessary to empower them to live violence-free lives and to raise awareness of family violence and teen dating violence in their communities. These primary prevention programs are offered to middle schools, high schools and after school programs in Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette and Lee counties.

Volunteer Services

Presentations are designed to create awareness in the community of agency services and provide information to individuals interested in volunteering. The program focuses on recruitment, training, and support of agency volunteers.
